Light Up Your Horse Arena: The Best Lights Revealed

It is important to have excellent lighting, whether you are updating lighting in an existing space or installing lighting in a brand new one. To get the best performance and lumen output, you must select the correct lights and lamp positions. When choosing arena lighting, we must consider lighting intensity, energy efficiency and safety.

Lighting Standards for LED Horse Arena Lights

In general, an outdoor training arena’s illuminance can range from 150 to 250lux. However, this will depend on the size and shape of the arena. Illumination of 400lux is recommended for hunter/jumper-training. Dressage requires a minimum of 500lux. If you are looking to light up a platform for a highly competitive competition, 700lux will do.

How many lights are needed to light up a horse arena

The lux requirements for a horse arena that is being used for training or entertainment will be 250 lux. This provides enough light for both the horse and rider to be clearly seen. If you want to know how many lumens the lighting for an equestrian area has? Check out this. For every 100 square metres of an indoor or outdoor arena, we will need 100 x 25 = 25,000 Lumens.

If the light on the mast is high, then we will need to select a stronger light or a higher lumen light. You can gain a basic understanding of the lighting requirements for the equestrian area by using the calculation above.

How do you choose the correct color temperature for a horse arena?

The color temperature of light is an important feature that influences the appearance of the surrounding environment. CCT is used for sports arenas and falls into the range of pure white (5000K). We need to be more careful with the distribution of light for sport field lighting to avoid glare and shadows. This is particularly important for horses. You will want to ensure that your horse arena or cycling circle is lit in a way that mimics daylight. This is because these animals can be easily scared. Most clients choose 4000K and 5000K to light the arena.

What is the biggest challenge facing Horse Arena Lights today?

Outdoor lighting for horse arenas is exposed to the elements. From wind and rain, to dust and even animals. These lights should be able handle it all. Indoor rings also have similar issues. These lights can have more dust because the racecourse footing is typically sand. Keep all these things in mind, and pay attention to whether the lighting is IP66 orIP67 rated.
